It's Elf Time!

Today was a VERY exciting day in our classroom!!! We got a special present from Santa! It was waiting in our classroom when we got to school. I had bus duty this morning, but the kids found the gift during announcements. We were so anxious, but everyone waited VERY patiently to open the present after phonics time.

Inside the gift was a book, lots of little baggies, tons of papers, and 2 letters! One letter was from Santa and one was from an elf named Nutcracker! Nutcracker visited my classroom last year around the holidays, and I formed a very special bond with this little fellow. :) I'm so lucky that Santa decided to let him come back to Room 301 this year. You see, usually Santa sends you a brand new elf, but Nutcracker talked about missing our class so much that he got to come back! Yay!

Nutcracker will stay in our class during the day to watch the little ones and take mental notes about the good, the bad, and the ugly. He'll use his Christmas magic to fly back up to Santa each night and give him his reports. Then, before we get to school, he'll find a new spot to sit for the next day. He needs to make sure he gets all the vantage points of the room. :) Now sometimes these little elves are mischevious, so we'll have to wait and see what trouble he finds each day. Last year, Nutcracker had a tendency of being pretty silly.

Santa also included some Elf Journals in our package, so we'll be working on those for morning work each day Nutcracker comes. I can't wait to see where all Nutcracker will be!

Lastly, Nutcracker sent us all some Elf Kisses. What a sweet little elf. He must've known that we were studying gingerbread men this week because he picked the perfect baggies to send us our treats! :) His letter told me I couldn't pass them out until the end of the day. Drats! He must know about our no-candy policy.

I love Nutcracker. Can't wait to see him tomorrow! I know the kids will all be anxious, too.
